West Ham have added an Arsenal midfielder to their list of summer targets as they eye further reinforcements in the middle of the park. With the Gunners poised to accelerate their outgoing business following a busy window of incomings, several fringe players could be on the move.
Arsenal have already spent over £200 million this summer, strengthening across the pitch with six new signings. The club is still targeting a versatile forward as a final addition before the window closes, but player sales are expected to be necessary to balance the books.
One name who could be heading for the exit is Fabio Vieira. According to reporter Ben Jacobs, West Ham have expressed interest in the Portuguese playmaker and have added him to their shortlist of midfield targets. However, no formal approach has been made to Arsenal, and the interest is said to be at an early stage.
Vieira joined the Gunners from Porto in the summer of 2022 and showed early promise, but struggled to adapt physically to the demands of English football. As a result, he returned to Porto on loan last season, where he enjoyed a solid campaign.

During his loan spell, Vieira featured regularly for Porto, even appearing in the Club World Cup later in the season. He made a total of 42 appearances, scoring and assisting 11 times in all competitions. Porto were reportedly keen to sign him permanently, but financial constraints have prevented them from doing so.
The 24-year-old’s return to form has now reignited Premier League interest, with West Ham looking to bolster their midfield under new manager Julen Lopetegui. Their pursuit follows recent reports linking newly-promoted Parma with a surprise move for Vieira, following the arrival of Carlos Cuesta from Arsenal.
Whether Vieira remains at Arsenal beyond the window remains to be seen, but with competition for places intense and a need to trim the squad, a summer departure looks increasingly likely.
