Ange Postecoglou insists he is not thinking about the prospect of losing his job at Tottenham amid reports Spurs could depart with the Australian.
Spurs have endured a disappointing season which sees them currently sit 14th in the Premier League table ahead of their game against rivals Chelsea on Thursday.
They remain in the Europa League, however, and face former winners Eintracht Frankfurt in the quarter-finals.
But defeat in the competition could spell the end of Postecoglou’s spell as Spurs boss though he insists he is not thinking beyond the immediate future.
“I don’t deal with it mate,” he said on the speculation regarding his future.
“Like I said, I know what my responsibilities are. I’m sure if the club decides to go in a different direction, there’s some outstanding candidates out there for it.
“And you know what? Maybe someone will think Ange Postecoglou’s not a bad coach, maybe we’ll take a punt on him. So it doesn’t rock my world, it doesn’t consume me.
“I’m here, I’m passionate about that we’re doing. I was brought in to change the way the club plays, rejuvenate the squad, bring success, and I’m focused on that.
“That’s what I’ll keep doing.”
USA boss and former Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino is one of those being linked with the job should Postecoglou leave and he recently reiterated his desire to one day return to the club.
But Postecoglou insists Pochettino was not being disrespectful with his comments.
“Mauricio, if he wants to come back one day I hope it happens for him,” he said.
“We all have dreams and aspirations. If that’s what he wants.
“You’re suggesting that he’s trying to put pressure on me. I don’t feel disrespected. I think if you asked Mauricio that question directly you’d get a pretty clear answer as to what his intent was.
“It’s nothing for me to be consumed with. I’m more focused on trying to make sure we win tomorrow night.”
