There were smiles all round when the final whistle went at Celtic Park this afternoon, with the Hoops recording a comfortable 3-0 league victory over Livingston.

With several changes to the starting line-up for today’s match, Liam Scales was given the responsibility of wearing the captain’s armband, with Callum McGregor starting the game on the bench.

Reflecting on today’s win, Scales touched on the importance of a positive result ahead of Tuesday’s crucial Champions League play-off match in Kazakhstan.

Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, Scales said: “Livingston set up well and made it hard for us in the first half, but we knew that if we kept playing our game and doing our thing we’d break them down.

“That’s what we did in the second half. It was a really good win.

“We wanted to go in to the game on Tuesday night in the best possible way and that’s what we’ve done so we’re really happy."

Alongside Scales for the Celtic TV interview was Benjamin Nygren, who contributed massively to today’s victory with two second half goals, the first of which broke the deadlock.

And, speaking to Celtic TV, the Swede reflected on the importance of getting the opening goal which set the Bhoys on their way to victory.

Nygren added: “In games like this where you have the ball a lot it’s always very important to get the first goal.

“You see what happens, it becomes a totally different game.

“The game opens up a bit more so it’s very important."
