One such phenomenon was the rise of several youngsters like Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, and Fermin Lopez, who became important members of the first team. Another youngster who made a big leap during the last season, but was still unable to make the jump to the first team, was the Senegalese defender Mikayil Faye.

The young defender has a contract till 2027 with FC Barcelona, and the club is planning for him to be a part of the team that will undertake the upcoming pre-season under Hansi Flick. However, owing to the overbooking of players in the center-back position, the Catalans are also open to parting ways with him if a good offer arrives, in the range of €15 million.

Several clubs have been keeping an eye on the defender, with the most prominent being the Portuguese side, Porto. However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Porto’s financial health is not very good, and they are waiting to complete the sale of one of their defenders before embarking on the operation to sign Faye.

This defender in question is David Carmo, who spent the latter half of the last season on loan at Olympiacos, winning the UEFA Conference League with the Greek side. Now, satisfied with the defender’s performances, the Greeks have submitted an offer of €12 million fixed and another €3 million in variables to own him permanently.

Thus, Carmo’s sale would put a significant amount of money in Porto’s coffers, which they can use to make a move for Faye. Some reports on this subject have indicated that Porto are thinking of submitting a proposal of €5 million to get 50% of the player’s rights. It remains to be seen whether such an offer would entice Barcelona.
