Celtic do not have a great record in recent years when it comes to developing players and giving them consistent chances in the senior team. The last one to make the jump from the academy and become a starter for the Hoops was Kieran Tierney. It is safe to say that it has been a long time since then.
Clearly, a pathway does not exist right now. And that has resulted in many players leaving the club before ever making a real impact at the senior level.
One player who was given a few appearances early on in his career was Ben Doak. But that was not enough to convince him to stay on at Celtic.
Doak ended up joining Liverpool. But things have not exactly gone to plan there either. And now, it looks like the former Celtic youngster could soon be on the move once again.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, Everton boss David Moyes is ready to look towards city rivals Liverpool for Doak. He is believed to be available for around £25 million and the Toffees manager has made him a priority target.
Of course, Everton are not the only club to be linked with Doak in recent weeks. Bournemouth are believed to be keeping an eye on his situation as well. Crystal Palace could be in the mix for the Scottish winger's signature too.
So, it looks like Doak is not going to have a lack of suitors if he ends up departing Liverpool in the summer. But one has to wonder whether leaving Celtic Park for Anfield was even worth it for the youngster, as it looks like he does not have a long-term future there. Let's see where he ends up next season.
