Manchester United are reportedly closing in on their first signing of the January transfer window in the form of talented young Paraguayan left-back Diego Leon.
That’s according to the latest information from trusted transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano via his official account on X, with the Italian reporter claiming that Leon is in Manchester today for his medical and an official announcement confirming his move.
See below for further details in Leon’s move to Man Utd, including the structure of the fee, plus the date when he’ll actually join, as it’s not a deal that is going to go through straight away…

Leon looks like a fine prospect who could have a big future in the game, and United fans will no doubt be excited about his arrival in summer 2025.
The 17-year-old probably won’t be a regular in Ruben Amorim’s first-team any time soon, but there is already arguably a need for a new left-back.

It remains to be seen what MUFC will decide to do with Leon, but we know that some players progress quicker than others, so the South American teenager might be one who finds that he’s ready to make an impact really soon.
United could do with an upgrade on the injury-prone Luke Shaw, while one imagines Tyrell Malacia’s future is also in some doubt after a lack of impact in his time at the club, while he’s also had injury problems of his own.
At the same time, though, the Red Devils might feel they could also do with some more proven coming in in that position, with Leon perhaps being signed with the next two or three years in mind instead of next season.
