Scorers: Antony 35′

Erik ten Hag handed a debut to Antony following his arrival from Ajax on deadline day whilst welcomed back Oleksandr Zinchenko after his injury.

It took just 12 minutes for the controversy to start as Gabriel Martinelli raced in to score but the goal was then ruled out by VAR for a foul in the build-up.

Tensions were boiling over now with Scott McTominay crashing into challenges and Bukayo Saka going in high on Lisandro Martinez.

David De Gea was then called into action for the first time after saving well from Martinelli’s close range header.

But on 35 minutes Antony made his presence known to the Old Trafford faithful by latching on to a Marcus Rashford pass and scoring his first goal for United.

Brighton v Leicester

Scorers: Thomas (OG) 10′, Caicedo 15′, Trossard 64′, Mac Allister (PEN) 71 90+5′; Iheanacho 1′, Daka 33′

A topsy-turvy game at the Amex saw Brighton beat Leicester 5-2 to heap yet more pressure on Foxes’ Brendan Rodgers.

Leicester were looking for their first win of the season as they travelled to face a Brighton side sitting pretty in fourth place.

And they got off to the perfect start as Kelechi Iheanacho capitalised on some poor defending to score after just one minute.

The home side soon got themselves back on level terms though as Solly March headed back in towards goal as Justin Thomas poked into his own net.

Graham Potter’s side were well on top now and after just 15 minutes went ahead as Moses Caicedo found space in the area and blasted home after a quick counter-attack.

This crazy game took another turn though as Patson Daka raced in and fired one past Roberto Sánchez to get the Foxes back on level terms.

Into the second half and Brighton thought they were ahead again as Alexis Mac Allister fired in a first time effort that rifled into the top left-hand corner.

But VAR had other ideas as the goal was disallowed for an offside in the build up.

The hosts weren’t deterred however and soon got their third just after the hour as Leandro Trossard finished with aplomb whilst Mac Allister found a fourth thanks to a penalty on 71 minutes.
