AC Milan have stepped up their pursuit of Rasmus Hojlund amid growing expectations the forward is sold before deadline day.
In the days leading up to Benjamin Sesko’s Manchester United unveiling, it was claimed Hojlund had begun conceding that he would likely be offloaded this summer despite his public pleas to stay put and fight for his place next term.
Then, when he was left on the bench for the entirety of United’s final pre-season fixture at home to Fiorentina on Saturday, Fabrizio Romano suggested it was a ‘clear message’ by Ruben Amorim and the Red Devils board that the Dane would be playing no part in Amorim’s plans moving forward.

Add that to the fact that Hojlund has reportedly (Ben Jacobs) been ‘directly told’ he will have to leave Old Trafford in order to secure regular game time for the 2025/2026 campaign, and it now looks as though the 22-year-old has played his last game in red.
MailSport claims Milan are pushing for a season-long loan, whereby they will pay an upfront fee of £4 million before having the option of making his transfer permanent next June for £39 million. ‘Talks’ are ‘ongoing’ between all parties, with United resigned to taking a hefty loss on the £64m they forked out for Hojlund back in 2023.
A switch to Milan would allow the centre-forward to return to Serie A, where he spent one year plying his trade with Atalanta before being snapped up by the Reds.
He scored nine goals in 32 league appearances for the Italian outfit, while he has since recorded a total of 14 Premier League goals in 62 games, making it no surprise that INEOS are ready to cut ties sooner rather than later.
