Photo Of The Day – Celtic Fans Watch Newcastle Friendly From Rooftop

Today’s photo of the day goes back to August 1995, when Celtic returned to Paradise for the first time since the ground was redeveloped.

Fans were impressed by the towering structure of the North Stand, whilst the empty spaces behind each goal provided some supporters with an opportunity to view the match from an interesting vantage point!

Visitors on the afternoon were the same as today’s opponents – Newcastle United – and Celtic drew the game 1-1 with goals coming from John Collins (penalty) and Les Ferdinand.

For many, it was a wonderful taste of home again. Although, David Ginola will have less fond recollections of the afternoon as he was booed throughout, having rejected the Hoops for a move to Teeside.

This afternoon’s game will take place in a much different stadium, with the houses long gone too.
