Manchester City will still “do very, very good things” in the remainder of the ongoing season, according to their manager Pep Guardiola.

That is the belief of the Manchester City manager despite their five-game losing streak across competitions that reached it’s pinnacle of concern on Saturday evening, as Tottenham inflicted a damning 0-4 victory over the Premier League champions at the Etihad Stadium.

In fact, it was Ange Postecoglou’s side that opened up the losing run of form last month by knocking City out of the Carabao Cup at the fourth round stage, before Guardiola’s side lost 2-1 against both Bournemouth and Brighton & Hove Albion, and 4-1 against Sporting CP.

The run of defeats also coincides with a string of injury problems and doubts within the squad, as Pep Guardiola battles to find solutions in a multitude of positions, none more so than the absence of Rodri.

Speaking in the build-up to Manchester City’s UEFA Champions League meeting with Feyenoord this week, Pep Guardiola further reinstated his faith and trust in the squad despite their losing run across their last five cross-competition matches.

“These guys gave us a lot, and these guys will give us a lot! I have the feeling that this season we will do VERY, VERY good things,” Guardiola insisted during his pre-match media duties on Monday.

He continued, “I don’t give up, and I have the feeling that we will be there. And if it happens, it happens, because with human beings, it can happen.”

But some believe Manchester City will need to put together one of their famous winning runs in order to find some form and stake a serious claim for the Premier League trophy in light of Liverpool’s stern pursuit. Pep Guardiola, on the other hand, is simply focussed on one win.

“NO! Just win one. You have to win one! In the position that we are in, in terms of results, are you thinking that already we are going to win the Premier League?! No,” Guardiola said in response to the subject of a long, winning run.

He continued, “We have to win one game, and after see to win the next one. And learn from that one to get better. This is the mindset that we have to have.”

The meeting with Feyenoord this week in Europe will then be followed up by a mammoth contest in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, as Liverpool host the champions with the opportunity to go 11 points clear of City with a win.
