Pedro Neto has just spoken to TNT Sport about a strong performance with a goal and an assist, playing out of position as a striker.
He was asked how much he enjoyed it, and responded “a lot, because I don’t have to defend as much!!”
“I don’t have to run back as much so I have more energy to run in front. I have a free role to play there… I’m really enjoying playing there. I want to help the team that is the most important thing.”
He gave really interesting in depth answers about the difference playing for Chelsea, where he has to face more low blocks which prevent him using his pace as much. Playing up front certainly helps with that. He revealed that he had actually learned to play in a front two as a teenager with Lazio in Italy.
“I really like it [playing with my back to a defender]… I always learned to play with the contact first, or with the movement, to take a step, and sometimes I like to give the first touch to go in behind. It’s something I really like and something I want to improve as well.”

Neto wasn’t the only player who ended up talking to the cameras – goalscorer Levi Colwill spoke just after the final whistle where he spoke about how happy he was for his friend Christopher Nkunku in particular:
“Me and him are close. We have been talking. I know how much he wants. I know how much he cares and today is a reward for him for staying in there and digging in deep. I am so happy he scored.”
All in all, an important night for our current main goal threats, Christopher and Pedro.
