Pedri reveals first contact from new Barcelona boss Hansi Flick | OneFootball

A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has confirmed that he has held first contacts with new head coach Hansi Flick, ahead of the pair linking up later this summer.

The player in question? Pedri.

Midfielder Pedri, for his part, is of course currently on international duty, with Spain at the European Championships.

A fixture in the XI of La Roja boss Luis de la Fuente, the 21-year-old is one of a number of Barcelona stars still in the running to clinch glory at the Euros this month.

Upon such efforts coming to a close, though, Pedri’s focus will quickly shift back towards matters at club level.

As much comes with the former Las Palmas talent expected to play an equally prominent role in the plans of newly-appointed Blaugrana headmaster Hansi Flick.

Reports in the media have long pointed towards Flick being a keen admirer of Pedri’s abilities, news which has gone down a treat with all of a Barca persuasion.

Speaking in an interview with Mundo Deportivo on Wednesday, it therefore came as little surprise when Flick’s name was put to the midfielder himself.

Drawn specifically on the communication between the pair to date, Pedri went on to explain:

“We shared a few words and he wished me luck for the Euros. I’m looking forward to the start of the season, to meet him and see how it goes. I’m sure it will go well.”
