PEC Zwolle have signed Koen Kostons from SC Paderborn. The former MVV Maastricht striker has signed a contract until 2029 and is expected to come to Zwolle as a replacement for Dylan Vente.
Kostons spent six months on loan at Belgian side KV Kortrijk last season and failed to score in 13 league matches. However, Kostons has already played over 150 matches in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie with MVV, scoring 32 goals and providing an assist 36 times.
In Zwolle, Kostons aims to take Dylan Vente’s spot. The Surinamese international forward transferred to SC Heerenveen earlier this summer.
For Kostons, a comeback to the Netherlands was the ideal choice at this point in his career. “I’m thrilled to be returning to the Netherlands with PEC Zwolle and making my debut in the Eredivisie. The choice wasn’t difficult for me. PEC are a fantastic club that have been proving their ability to achieve results with good, polished, attacking football for years. I’m eager to make this adventure a wonderful one, and I’m looking forward to my first match at the MAC3PARK stadium.”
Technical director Gerry Hamstra explains what kind of striker PEC fans can expect with this transfer. “Koen is a footballing centre forward and is incredibly goal-oriented. At 25, he already has a wealth of experience, but he certainly still has the potential to grow.”
