Paul Pogba (32) has signed his first contract since the expiry of his doping ban. The Frenchman has not played since September 2023, however, he does not doubt that he can turn back the clock once he does return.
The return of Pogba is highly anticipated, however, it is unclear whether he will be the Pogba of old. He was presented as a new AS Monaco player in a press conference attended by Get French Football News on Thursday and he has no doubt that he can rediscover his former self.
“I hope to be even better than before because I have more desire. Here, I have everything to become a big player again […] It is still the same Paul Pogba, perhaps a more determined one. You will see a determined Paul Pogba,” said the Frenchman.
His confidence is shared by Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro. “We are pretty confident that Paul can bring a lot,” he said.
However, he won’t be making an impact in the short term. As confirmed by Scuro, the former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder will not be fit for the start of the Ligue 1 season. It is expected to take three months to build his fitness to a sufficient level.
