Manchester United’s new signing Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu has criticised former Red Devils’ star Cristiano Ronaldo for diving in the Nations League match between Portugal and Denmark earlier this week.

With the Danes having won the first match 1-0 with a goal from United’s Rasmus Hojlund, there was much left to play for in the second leg of the tie.

The match did not disappoint as Portugal came out on top in a seven goal thriller, 5-2.

There were many representatives from Old Trafford as Hojlund, Christian Eriksen and Dorgu all started for the Scandinavians while Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes played for Portugal from the start.

Dorgu excelled in the match but was penalised in the first half for giving away a penalty on Cristiano Ronaldo, that he would later miss.

There seemed to be little contact with a ball swung into the box and the former United striker not particularly close to the ball, the 20 year old certainly felt hard done by.

Speaking on the incident after the game to Danish station TV2 he claimed, “Cristiano Ronaldo is clever. He knows how to win a penalty.”

Elaborating on the events he stated, “I don’t feel like I grabbed him too hard and I think there was more contact in other situations in the game. I just put my hand on his arm and he threw himself to the ground. It was a good play from him.”

The youngster took a very mature attitude to the event as whilst admitting that the moment bothered him, he was determined to not let the incident define his match.

“I’m not going to let a penalty affect me so early in the game. I have to be more careful and learn from it.”

The Danish defender recently hit the headlines for his honesty during United’s 4-1 win over Real Sociedad in the Europa League earlier this month.

Having already won the second spot kick of the match, Dorgu was brought down late on in the match but after the referee awarded a penalty, he went up to him and indicated that he didn’t think it was a foul in a true act of fair play.
