Parma boss Fabio Pecchia has admitted that he was stunned by the changes AC Milan made at half-time during the dramatic game at San Siro today.

The Gialloblu looked like they were heading for a league double over Milan given that they twice led during the game through Matteo Cancellieri and Enrico Del Prato, who scored either side of Christian Pulisic’s penalty.

They still led going into the six minutes of added time at the end of the 90, but then something magical happened. Tijjani Reijnders finished through ball from Yunus Musah to make it 2-2, then a couple of minutes later Samuel Chukwueze bundled in a late winner off the bench.

It was an emotionally exhausting game in truth and one where Parma might feel that they deserved more after a largely competent defensive display, yet the magnitude of the three points for Milan is undoubtedly huge.

Pecchia spoke to the reporters who gathered in the press conference room at San Siro after what was an entertaining game that his side didn’t come out on the right side of, despite a good performance overall. MilanNews relayed his words.

What happened at the end?

“It’s a shame, but the result is what counts. I would have been surprised if there had been no reaction from Milan, in front of their own fans, down by a goal against Parma. We could have kept the offside line better on the third goal.”

You conceded four times to Milan over the two games this season…

“We wanted to play as we usually do in a testing environment. When we had to defend, we did it in an orderly manner. Djuric is also a reference for other quality players.”

Are there any regrets?

“In the final stages, all the plans fell apart, we even had a chance to score. Maybe we dropped a bit too deep, but that’s fine considering we were winning 2-1 at San Siro.”

What did you think when Leao and Theo Hernandez came off at half-time?

“‘What the f***!’. Then come on, Milan has a solid squad and can turn games around. It’s a top squad at European level.”
