Palmeiras reject Roma’s first formal offer for Rios | OneFootball

Roma are serious in their pursuit of Richard Rios.

The Colombian midfielder remains Roma’s number one priority to strengthen Gian Piero Gasperini’s midfield.

As reported by Filippo Biafora of Il Tempo, after verbally presenting the Brazilian club with an offer of €22 million plus €3 million in bonuses, the Giallorossi also submitted it in writing, receiving a firm rejection from the Verdaos.

The reason is dictated by the division of the player’s rights: 70% belongs to the club where the Colombian number 8 currently plays, 20% to Flamengo, and 10% to Rios himself, but the latter has said he is willing to forgo his share in order to expedite the deal.

If Rios were to be sold, Palmeiras would have to pay an outgoing fee: for this reason, the South American club wants to obtain a net revenue of at least €20 million from this transaction.

Therefore, Roma will need to make a greater effort to satisfy Gasperini, who has expressed his desire to coach the Colombian.
