What do you predict with the final 2024/25 Premier League table?
Less than two weeks of the season still left to go.
In 13 days time Newcastle United will conclude their season with a home game against Everton on Sunday 25 May with a 4pm kick-off.
An intense period of games during May for the five teams competing to get those final three Champions League spots.
This past weekend could prove pivotal, on Saturday it was Southampton 0 Man City 0 followed by Bournemouth 0 Villa 1, then on Sunday we had Newcastle 2 Chelsea 0 and then Forest 2 Leicester 2.
So this is how the Premier League table now currently looks on the morning of Monday 12 May 2025 after Saturday’s results:
As you can see, it is only four points separating Newcastle United in third down to Forest in seventh.
However, with only two games each remaining, any points differences are far more important at this late stage.
When it comes to predicting what that final Premier League table will look like after the 38th round of fixtures in May 2025, Opta have done some updated analysis after this past weekend’s results.
Using their latest data simulations, Opta analysis has shown this as the most likely 2024/25 Premier League table come the end of the season – Predicted final table as of this morning (Monday 12 May) 2025:
As you can see, it couldn’t be closer between third and fourth, with Opta now predicting both Newcastle United and Man City now forecast to both end up on 68 points, with NUFC ending up ahead of Pep Guardiola’s side by the smallest of margins.
After that huge result at St James’ Park on Sunday, Chelsea now predicted to miss out on a Champions League place, Opta’s model seeing them end up sixth on 66 points, with Villa (who were lucky to win 1-0 at Bournemouth on Saturday) on the same points as Maresca’s team but taking fifth place by the smallest of margins.
As for Forest, their Champions League hopes appear to be falling apart, with the draw against Leicester meaning they have taken only five points from the last possible eighteen. Opta seeing them ending up seventh on 64 points.
We now also have the small matter whereby if Newcastle United win their last two games, they will be guaranteed second place. Arsenal recovered to take a point at Liverpool but they now have only three wins in their last eleven PL matches.
