We're back after another round of Major League Soccer action with a handful of players strutting their stuff. Heading into the international break, here is the latest Player of the Week.
It had to be, didn't it? After a stellar performance against the CF Montreal last time out, Lionel Messi turned on the jets against Eastern Conference rivals Columbus Crew.
His two goals and two assists guided the Herons to a 5-1 win, securing back-to-back MLS victories for the first time since March.
Messi's performance included a curling effort over the head of Crew goalkeeper Nicholas Hagen before chipping over him for another goal minutes later.
Miami registered just seven shots on target and had five goals to show for it, with the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner orchestrating each one.
Messi has now scored in three consecutive MLS games, notching five goals and three assists. His seasonal tally is 10 goals and five assists in 13 league games. Talk about turning up the heat!
Saturday's performance also sent Messi up in multiple standings.
Miami are third in the table with a game in hand behind conference leaders Philadelphia Union and second-place FC Cincinnati. Meanwhile, the Argentina World Cup winner is tied for third in the league scoring charts (10 goals) behind Sam Surridge (11) and Tai Baribo (13).
Perhaps the magician is back to his best for the Herons?
