La Liga giants Real Madrid could yet see their chances of securing a historic turnaround victory over Arsenal on Wednesday boosted by the latest personnel developments in the Gunners’ squad.
That’s according to Diario AS, citing The Mirror, who have on Monday provided an insight into the situation.
Real Madrid are of course set to shift focus back towards matters on the continent this week.
Fresh off a much-needed victory over Deportivo Alavés in La Liga over the weekend, Los Blancos will welcome the aforementioned Arsenal to Spain’s capital, with a place in the semi-finals of the Champions League on the line.
Carlo Ancelotti’s troops head into the matchup requiring something of a minor miracle to advance, trailing by three goals to nil following last week’s first leg in north London.
As alluded to above, though, Real Madrid’s ‘remontada’ hopes could yet be increased by the injury situation in Mikel Arteta’s travelling squad.
As per AS, Gunners star Jorginho has already been ruled out of Wednesday’s fixture, owing to an injury suffered against Brentford at the weekend.
And also a doubt to play his part is midfield partner Thomas Partey.
Ghanaian international Partey was hooked prematurely against Brentford, too, with his participation at the Santiago Bernabéu therefore considered as somewhat up in the air as things stand.
