After a year and a half of playing with Macarthur in the Australian A-League, former Olympique de Marseille, Montpellier, and AS Monaco striker Valère Germain continues his globe-trotting career with a move to Japan. The former France international has today been announced as J-League club Sanfrecce Hiroshima’s new signing, according to an announcement from the Japanese club.He joins his second club away from France following his departure from Montpellier in 2023, and his sixth club in his career. The Frenchman became the all-time top scorer for Macarthur during his stint with the A-League side for the past year and a half with 27 goals.

The Marseille-born forward broke through at AS Monaco in 2011, going on to play 202 matches for the Principality side including 53 goals before a loan move to OGC Nice. Germain signed for Marseille in 2017, going on to score 31 goals in 159 matches for Les Phocéens until he left for Montpellier in 2021. GFFN | George Boxall
