Union Berlin have today announced the signing of Matheo Raab from Hamburg for a reported €400,000. The 26-year-old made a total of 31 appearances for HSV, helping them return to the Bundesliga. The goalkeeper will provide competition for Frederik Rønnow at die Eisernen.

“The path that Union have taken in recent years and intend to continue in the future immediately convinced me,” Raab told the club’s website. “I’ve heard a lot of good things about the stadium and the fans and can’t wait to experience it all for myself. I’m looking forward to meeting my new colleagues and I’m determined to help the team achieve its goals.”

On signing Raab, Horst Heldt – Union’s Managing Director – said: “Matheo is another important and interesting addition to our goalkeeping team. We are convinced that he will bring competition between the posts and are delighted that he has chosen us.”
