Official – Tajon Buchanan Joins Villarreal From Inter Milan | OneFootball

Canadian international winger Tajon Buchanan has joined Villarreal from Inter Milan on a permanent basis.

Villarreal have confirmed the 26-year-old’s transfer in an announcement on their homepage. And so have Inter Milan via their homepage, confirming the transfer is permanent.

Tajon Buchanan spent the second half of last season on loan at Villarreal. The Canadian international left the Nerazzurri on loan during the January transfer window.

Villarreal had an option to sign him on a permanent basis, but have not exercised it. However, the Nerazzurri hardly considered Buchanan a part of their plans.

Therefore, Inter have listened to offers for Buchanan.

A few clubs showed an interest in signing Buchanan this summer. The likes of Brentford and Eintracht Frankfurt reportedly eyed up a deal.

Then, Sassuolo had also seemingly been close to signing Buchanan, keeping the Canadian in Serie A.

In the end, though, it is Villarreal who have signed Buchanan outright after all.

The Yellow Submarine have signed the Canadian international outright after agreeing a deal with Inter. He has signed a 5 year deal with the La Liga outfit.

Villarreal do not announce the fee for the deal. However, widespread reports indicate that it is around €9 million, with Inter also getting a 20% sell-on fee in the deal.

Buchanan joined Inter from Club Brugge during the January transfer window of the 2023-24 season.

The Canadian made seventeen appearances for the Nerazzurri. Only one of these was as a starter, however, with the rest coming off the bench.

Buchanan scored one goal for Inter, against Frosinone towards the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
