This week, Inter begin their Champions League campaign for the season.

And it could hardly be a tougher way in which to begin their European efforts.

On paper, Inter have been handed perhaps the hardest of all possible fixtures to begin their Champions League “league phase.”

The Nerazzurri travel to Manchester to take on Premier League juggernauts Manchester City.

The Cityzens are arguably the strongest team in all of Europe. They have taken twelve points from twelve in their first four Premier League matches of the season.

City have won the Premier League title in the last four seasons.

And City are also the team that beat Inter in the final of the 2022-23 edition of the Champions League.

But there is reason for hope for Inter. Despite losing that final to City 1-0, the Nerazzurri went toe-to-toe with the English team, and even had good chances to equalize late on.

Nevertheless, facing Pep Guardiola’s team, currently enjoying the stunning form of striker Erling Haaland, away at the Etihad, will be a massive undertaking for Inter.

Glenn Nyberg To Referee Man City Vs Inter Champions League Clash

The referee for Wednesday’s match will be Swedish official Glenn Nyberg.

Assisting Nyberg in his duties will be Andreas Soderkvist and Mahbod Beigi.

The role of the fourth official, meanwhile, will fall to Adam Ladeback.

In the VAR booth, Pol van Boekel will oversee the match to ensure to correct any errors by the on-pitch officials.

Assisting van Boekel in his duties will be Ricardo de Burgos.

Inter will be hoping that the focus stays on the action on the pitch rather than refereeing controversy.
