On moving to the club, Bakayoko said:

“I’m really looking forward to the new challenge at RB Leipzig. The club has made a name for itself internationally and stands for ambitious, attacking football, the kind I love. I’ve been deeply impressed by how RB Leipzig has consistently sought me out over the past few years and made me feel like they were fully committed to me. This, along with the current discussions with everyone in charge, was the deciding factor for me to move to Leipzig and the Bundesliga.I immediately felt that there was a clear plan for me and that I could leverage my strengths here. RB Leipzig is a club that challenges and develops young players. I’m ready to work hard, take on responsibility, and want to celebrate success with the team and our fans.”

When it came to their pursuit of the Belgian international, Leipzig were late to the party and hijacked Bayer Leverkusen’s pursuit of the wingerSky Germany reports that there were also attempts to hijack Leipzig’s move for Bakayoko.

Bakayoko can play on either wing, meaning Leipzig head into the new season with a duo of Antonio Nusa and the Belgian on either side.

Earlier, Leipzig also announced the signing of Yan Diomande from Spanish side Leganes for €20m, as they begin to step up their business in this summer window.  However, the big question marks remain around the futures of Benjamin Seško and Xavi Simons, with the pair having returned for pre-season training.
