Renato Sanches (28) has left PSG to join Panathinaikos on loan, both clubs have announced. The Portuguese international midfielder’s move to Greece includes no option to buy. Sanches returned to Paris this summer after spending last season on loan at Benfica, where he featured 21 times in all competitions. However, the Portugal international has not been integrated into Luis Enrique’s squad and was instead placed in the club’s ‘loft’ – the group of unwanted players expected to leave before the end of the transfer window.

Things haven’t quite worked out for the former Bayern Munich midfielder at the Parc des Princes, and he has made another temporary switch away from the French capital. Sanches most recently joined Benfica on loan, but he has also spent time on loan at Roma since making the switch from Lille for €15m in 2022. Sanches’ PSG contract runs until 2027.
