Juventus have officially confirmed the sale of Next Gen graduate Samuel Mbangula to Bundesliga side SV Werder Bremen on a permanent deal after one season in the Bianconeri first-team.

Juventus have confirmed that Werder Bremen will pay a fee of €10m over four instalments, plus bonuses of up to €2m. The Bianconeri have also confirmed that the sale of the recent Belgium international has raised €6.9m in capital gains.

The 21-year-old has reportedly signed a five-year contract in northern Germany, which will run until the summer of 2030.

Werder had an initial bid of €8m plus add-ons turned down by The Old Lady just over a week ago, according to reports in Italy.

Mbangula leaves Juventus after a five-year association that began with his transfer from Anderlecht in the summer of 2020. He spent four years with the Primavera and Next Gen teams, before being thrown into the first-team set-up under Thiago Motta at the start of the 2024-25 season.

Mbangula marked his first competitive start in the Juve senior side with the team’s opening goal of the 2024-25 Serie A season in a 3-0 win over newly-promoted Como in the first weekend of the season.

He would go on to score three Serie A goals last season, plus another against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League. Only Kenan Yildiz (six), Khephren Thuram and Dusan Vlahovic (both five) provided more Serie A assists than the Belgian last term (four).

“We are very pleased that we were able to sign Samuel and that he has made a long-term decision to join Werder,” said Peter Niemeyer, sporting director at Werder Bremen.

He continued: “We see a lot of potential in him. He enjoyed an excellent education in Belgium and especially at Juve and proved his quality at the highest level with Juventus’ professionals last season.

“For us, this is a transfer that we have implemented with full conviction. We have always said that we are also willing to invest if we are convinced of a player and his potential. This is absolutely the case with Samuel. We are convinced that he will help us directly with his quality.”
