Jonathan Gradit (32) has extended his contract at RC Lens. The Frenchman is now linked to the club until 2028.
Amid interest from Stade Rennais, the player’s agent went public in expressing frustration at his client’s playing time. However, that has naturally changed since the departures of Kevin Danso and Abdukodir Khusanov during the January transfer window.
The Frenchman has once again become a key element of Will Still’s defence. Gradit’s old deal had been set to expire at the end of next season, however, he has now extended for a further two seasons. “I wouldn’t have had this affection elsewhere,” he told L’Équipe upon signing the new deal.
Gradit arrived at Lens at the age of 26 and he may now remain at the club for the rest of his career, given that he will be 35 upon the conclusion of his new deal. “It was never an option to change clubs every year. I need stability,” he added.
With the defensive sector decimated by departures (Danso, Abdukodir, Przemyslaw Frankowski, whilst Facundo Medina is also expected to leave this summer). Gradit needs stability and in this sector, Lens certainly need it too.
