Augsburg have announced that goalkeeper Finn Dahmen has had his contract at the club extended until 2027 upon reaching an appearances milestone.
Last weekend against Bayer Leverkusen, Dahmen made his 50th appearance for Augsburg, which then triggered a clause in his contract which extended it by a year until 2027. The 27-year-old joined the Függerstädter in 2023 on a free transfer from Mainz.
After struggling with an injury at the beginning of the season, Dahmen has been a revelation in goal since regaining his number one spot. In 16 games, he has kept nine clean sheets and only conceded 10 goals. There was a period where he was close to matching Timo Hildebrand’s record of minutes without conceding a goal.
Dahmen’s performances in goal have brought into question his international future. The Wiesbaden-born keeper is of English and German nationality and can represent both at the senior international level, but has yet to commit to either side. He was in goal for Germany’s under-21s when they won the Euros in 2021 and was reportedly on standby for Germany in the last international break.
