In a significant development, Barcelona have received a major boost from the Higher Sports Council (CSD), which has granted a precautionary measure allowing Dani Olmo and Pau Victor to participate in the Super Cup final.
This decision comes as a relief for the club, particularly as the players were unavailable for the recent match against Athletic Club due to licensing issues.
It was confirmed that their licenses would only be processed on Thursday, leaving Barcelona in a challenging position earlier in the week.
The CSD’s ruling temporarily permits Olmo and Victor to play, despite previous refusals from both the courts and footballing authorities like La Liga and the RFEF.
While this decision provides temporary respite for the players, manager Hansi Flick, and club president Joan Laporta, it is important to note that it is not a final resolution. The situation remains uncertain, with the club now awaiting a conclusive verdict.
Shortly before the Super Cup final, the CSD issued a statement confirming its decision to grant the precautionary measure.

The statement explained that Barcelona and the two players had raised questions about the Monitoring Committee’s authority to cancel or grant player licenses.
“The CSD has estimated this Wednesday the urgent precautionary measure requested by Barcelona and by the players Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.
“This measure, which is provisional until the appeal filed by the club and the aforementioned players is definitively resolved, suspends the Agreement of the Monitoring Committee of the RFEF-LaLiga Coordination Agreement, dated January 4, 2025, and the cancellation of the sports licenses of the aforementioned players,” read the statement as quoted by MARCA.
Barcelona’s appeal, submitted on January 7, consisted of a 52-page document supported by over 60 pieces of evidence.
The club argued that the Monitoring Committee might lack the legal authority to block licenses for professional players, and the CSD found enough grounds to grant the provisional measure.
However, this decision is only temporary and will remain in place until the appeal is fully resolved.
As a result of the licensing delays, Barcelona were forced to play without Olmo and Victor in two matches: the Copa del Rey tie against Barbastro and the Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Club.
Now, with their licenses expected to arrive today, the players can finally join the squad for the highly anticipated final. This decision offers Barcelona a much-needed boost during a crucial stage of their season.
