Barcelona kickstart the defence of their La Liga title in an hour as they take on RCD Mallorca in their first game of the new season away at Son Moix.
Ahead of the big game, Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has announced the starting lineup that will take the field against Jagoba Arrasate’s side.
As expected, new signing Joan Garcia makes his competitive debut for Barça, starting in goal after being registered earlier today. Fellow summer arrival Marcus Rashford is left out on the bench.
In defence, Flick has opted to go with Eric Garcia as his right-back over first-choice starter Jules Kounde, just like he had for the Gamper Trophy match.
Alejandro Balde starts at left-back while captain Ronald Araujo accompanies Pau Cubarsi at the heart of the backline.
Moving further ahead, Pedri and Frenkie de Jong form the double pivot in the middle of the park, with no place in the team for Gavi and Marc Casado. Fermin Lopez gets the nod over Dani Olmo as the No. 10.
Raphinha and Lamine Yamal occupy their usual position on the flanks, with Ferran Torres spearheading the Barcelona attack in Robert Lewandowski’s injury-enforced absence.
