FC Barcelona look set to complete one of their key summer objectives before the curtain rises on their La Liga campaign against RCD Mallorca. The club is on the brink of registering Joan Garcia, and by tomorrow, the decisive paperwork should be done.

The breakthrough follows an official announcement from the club confirming that La Liga’s Medical Committee has reviewed Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s medical report and deemed his injury a ‘long-term’ case under current regulations.

That ruling is no minor formality as it frees up a significant percentage of the German shotstopper’s salary slot, allowing FC Barcelona to bring Joan Garcia onto the roster immediately.

Garcia’s registration is expected to be formalised tomorrow, making him eligible to feature against Jagoba Arrasate’s Mallorca in what could be a vital early boost for the Blaugrana squad.

For Hansi Flick, it means avoiding the dangerous scenario of going into the crucial league opener with only Inaki Pena registered in goal.

Yet while the goalkeeping issue is on the verge of being resolved, the club’s other registration puzzles remain unsolved, as Marcus Rashford, Roony Bardghji, Wojciech Szczesny, and Gerard Martin still need to be registered.

Furthermore, the Marc Bernal case also requires attention, as he must be registered with a first-team number.

The board’s recent decision to approve the use of personal guarantees as a last resort could prove decisive later in the window, but for now, all eyes are on getting Garcia’s name officially inked into the Barcelona squad list.
