Ethan Nwaneri wants assurances over his minutes at Arsenal before committing to a new contract.
The 18-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with the Gunners in 2024/25, scoring nine times in 16 starts across all competitions.
Last season, he became the second-youngest player to reach 10 goal involvements across Europe’s top-five leagues (18 years and 11 days), behind only Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal.
Arsenal are keen to tie Nwaneri down to a new long-term deal but the teenager is yet to commit to an extension.
Several leading clubs, including Chelsea and Liverpool, are monitoring the player’s situation with talkSPORT reporting that Nwaneri keen to learn his role in Mikel Arteta’s plans before signing a new contract.
Arsenal are pursuing deals for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke and Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze, two transfers that would increase competition for places in Nwaneri’s preferred roles.
Nwaneri, who became the Premier League’s youngest ever player at 15 years and 181 days old in 2022, has entered the final 12 months of his deal in North London.
Arsenal are eager to tie up Nwaneri’s deal as soon as possible, with the midfielder considered one of England’s brightest young talents.
He has been given extended leave ahead of pre-season after forming part of the victorious England squad at this summer’s u-21 European Championship.
In addition to incomings, Arsenal have been working behind the scenes to tie down key personnel to new deals. Gabriel Maghalaes signed a new contract with the club in June, while Myles Lewis-Skelly also committed his future last month.
