Nottingham Forest sign Newcastle United attacker Haywood on loan | OneFootball

Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Newcastle United attacker Sophie Haywood on a loan deal for the remainder of the season.

The Tricky Trees announced the news via a post on their official club website just a short time ago.

The 29-year-old joined parent club Newcastle United on a free transfer last summer after leaving former club Sheffield United. Haywood has gone on to make nine appearances for The Magpies in the Barclays Women’s Championship, although the player has struggled for regular starts.

Haywood needs more minutes in the second half of the season and she will now hope to enjoy FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division title success in her spell at Nottingham Forest.

After signing on at The City Ground, Haywood said “I’m excited to be here and hopefully hit the ground running. I just love what the Club is about, the ambition and the aim; I’m excited to be a part of that.

“I’d like to add goals to this team. I’m happy to play whatever role Carly [Davies] sees fit, I just want to help contribute to that goal of promotion ultimately and whatever way that comes, I will be happy as long as that’s achieved.”

Haywood could go straight into the Nottingham Forest squad for Sunday’s FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division fixture at Halifax.
