Nottingham Forest are reportedly lining up a bid for Ipswich Town left-back Leif Davis this summer.
With Ipswich Town’s 2025/26 Championship campaign now underway, the summer transfer window is continuing to heat up, with the Tractor Boys now bracing themselves for a bid from Nottingham Forest for key man Leif Davis.
Ipswich Town began the new season with a 1-1 draw with likely fellow promotion contenders Birmingham City at St Andrew’s in the second-city, in a game in which George Hirst scored a controversial penalty deep into second-half stoppage-time to equalise for Kieran McKenna’s side.
Ipswich have been busy throughout the last few weeks of the window, with their hijacking of Birmingham’s move for Chuba Akpom from Ajax perhaps the headline story from the last couple of weeks or so in the EFL.
They have also added goalkeeper David Button on a free transfer from Reading, whilst Ashley Young has also moved to Portman Road on a free transfer from Everton.
Azor Matusiwa has arrived from Stade Rennais, whilst loan deals have been completed for Stade de Reims centre-back Cedric Kipre and Napoli midfielder Jens Cajuste following his temporary spell in Suffolk last term.
However, it isn’t just incomings that Town now have to keep an eye on, with a couple of outgoings still possible, and one of them could well be key left-back Leif Davis.
According to a joint-exclusive report by Ben Jacobs and Alex Crook, via the former’s X account, Nottingham Forest are lining up a bid to sign Leif Davis this summer.
As Jacobs goes on to report, Ipswich have already rejected multiple offers from Premier League clubs for the 25-year-old Newcastle-born left-back in this transfer window.
It is unknown as of yet how much Ipswich have turned down for the former Leeds United man, and how much Forest are set to bid for him, either.
Davis joined Ipswich for a fee believed to be in the region of £1 million in the summer of 2022, having spent the previous campaign making 12 appearances for AFC Bournemouth as they gained promotion from the Championship.
He has also earned a Championship winners’ medal with Leeds during his career, before winning back-to-back automatic promotions with Ipswich from the third-tier to the Premier League in 2023 and 2024.
Nottingham Forest are short at left-back, with loanee Alex Moreno having returned to parent club Aston Villa, whilst Harry Toffolo has departed the City Ground on a free transfer, joining Major League Soccer outfit Charlotte.
Nottingham Forest have also been in for another of Ipswich’s key players, with it having been reported that they had a £35 million bid rejected by Town for England U21 international Omari Hutchinson.
As well as interest from Forest in the former Chelsea and Arsenal attacker, it is also believed that Brentford have had a bid rejected for the 21-year-old Redhill-born former Jamaica international.
As well as Hutchinson, Wrexham have been said to have been closing in on a club-record deal for Wales international attacker Nathan Broadhead, but that has not yet come to fruition and Broadhead came off the bench in Ipswich’s opening day draw with Birmingham.
Earlier this summer, Ipswich sold Liam Delap to Chelsea for a fee believed to be in the region of £30 million, whilst club captain Samy Morsy has departed for Kuwait SC.
It remains to be seen as to how many players Ipswich sanction a move for, but it is expected to be an extremely busy final few weeks of the summer transfer window in Suffolk.
