Nottingham Forest have tied down one of their key players ahead of the 2025–26 campaign, with Ola Aina putting pen to paper on a new three-year deal that runs until the summer of 2028.
The Nigeria international joined Forest as a free agent in July 2023 following his departure from Torino. Initially signed on a one-year contract, he quickly established himself as a mainstay in the backline.
Aina made 37 appearances in all competitions in 2024–25, contributing to Forest’s seventh-place finish in the Premier League and their impressive FA Cup semi-final run.
Comfortable on both flanks, the 28-year-old provided defensive solidity and attacking thrust, completing more carries after a defensive action than any other player in the top flight last season.
Since his arrival, Aina has played 59 times for Forest, scoring three goals and notching two assists. His consistent performances have helped elevate him to cult-hero status at the City Ground.
Beyond the pitch, his popularity is also driven by his light-hearted personality. Whether sipping Ribena post-match or dancing with team-mates like Callum Hudson-Odoi after a win, Aina has become a beloved figure among fans.
Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has repeatedly praised Aina’s value to the squad, citing his defensive reliability and positive presence in the dressing room as key reasons for his importance.
Aina’s new contract follows a number of off-pitch moves by Forest to secure their core players. Chris Wood and Murillo have both signed new deals, and Nuno himself committed his future to the club until 2028 earlier this summer.
The former Chelsea academy graduate has also been a reliable performer for the Super Eagles, earning 40 caps for Nigeria since switching allegiance from England.
Forest see Aina as part of their long-term spine and a player who sets the tone both on and off the pitch. Securing his future was seen as a priority — and they have now delivered.
With the new Premier League season fast approaching, Aina remains one of Forest’s most trusted lieutenants.
