Nottingham Forest issue official statement after losing Anthony Elanga to Newcastle United

After losing Anthony Elanga to Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest have released an official statement (see below).
Determined to keep hold of one of their best players, Forest rejected a number of bids.
However, with Anthony Elanga determined to join Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest eventually accepting they couldn’t keep hold of the talented winger.
Neither club making public the transfer fee but ahead of the formal confirmation, it was widely reported as Anthony Elanga joining NUFC on a five year contract, with Newcastle United paying a guaranteed £52m, plus a potential £3m in future add-ons.
Nottingham Forest official statement – 11 July 2025:
‘Nottingham Forest can confirm Anthony Elanga has completed a permanent transfer to Newcastle United.
The Sweden international joined the Reds from Manchester United in the summer of 2023, amassing 82 appearances in the Garibaldi, scoring 11 times and laying on 21 assists in his two seasons with the Club.
Elanga contributed six goals and 11 assists in Forest’s 2024/25 campaign, as the Club finished in its highest league position for 30 years and secured European Football at the City Ground for 2025/26.
