FC Barcelona have slowly but surely built a project that looks to compete at the highest level. For the Catalan giants, the arrival of Hansi Flick was the most important development in that regard. Now, however, Barcelona need to give him the tools to create his ideal team.
This season, one position which certainly lacked some natural options at times was the left-wing position. While Raphinha did an impressive job occupying that area, he delivered most of his best moments while tucking in centrally as Alejandro Balde took over the left flank.
Now, however, Hansi Flick seems to want a natural solution over there in that position. Recently, the names of players such as Luis Diaz and even Ivan Perisic have been linked to the club as a result. However, the most recent update arrives connected to Athletic Club star Nico Williams.
The 22-year-old Spanish winger’s agent recently met Barcelona Director Deco, and it was a significant meeting considering the timing and player involved. Moreover, other subsequent reports have claimed that Williams would be eager to join Barcelona this summer.
Interestingly, this would align with the update provided by Victor Navarro as well in regards to this recent meeting. As per the journalist, it was Nico Williams himself who instructed his agent to meet up with Deco for this recent meeting.

This by itself is a major development, and it shows that Nico Williams is willing to make the first move towards Barcelona. By doing so, he has clearly set the tone of his own preferences and how he would like to join the Catalan giants this summer.
Moreover, Barcelona star Lamine Yamal wasted no time as reports emerged confirming Deco’s meeting with the Athletic Club star’s agent. Shortly after those reports came out, Yamal posted a picture of himself with Williams on his Instagram.
In a recent update, even journalist Santi Aouna exclusively reported that Williams would be willing to accept the €12 million gross per season salary that Barcelona offered him last year. However, it remains to be seen if any changes to that are made this time around.
