Nico Williams set to miss out on Athletic Club squad to travel to Girona | OneFootball

Ernesto Valverde announced today his matchday squad that is set to travel to Girona for Sunday afternoon’s clash at Montilivi.

The biggest news in the announcement is the absence of Nico Williams, who is set to miss out on the tie as a result of a bruised pelvis.

The younger of the Williams brothers played all 90 minutes of Thursday’s Europa League tie against AZ Alkmaar, getting an assist in a Man-of-the-Match performance.

Another absence for Los Leones is midfielder Mikel Vesga, who misses out as a result of a hamstring injury. He came off at the hour mark of Bilbao’s match against Sevilla last weekend.

Athletic Club are heading into the match against Girona unbeaten in their last 6 matches, Valverde will be hopeful of continuing this streak on Sunday evening.

Conversely, Girona have failed to get a win from their last six, Michel will be hopeful of turning their fortunes around in an attempt to gain some much-needed momentum.
