Whoscored have included two Newcastle United players in their January 2025 PL team of the month.

‘The whoscored ratings use data from every single Premier League match, over 200 raw statistics included in the automated calculation of a player’s rating, weighted according to their influence within the game.

Every event of importance is taken into account, with a positive or negative effect on ratings weighted in relation to its area on the pitch and its outcome.’

The Whoscored Premier League team of the month for January 2025, the players who got the highest average ratings throughout the month in PL games:

‘With the Premier League’s January action coming to an end at the weekend, we’re looking back at the standout performers over the course of the month.

Represented in our Team of the Month are Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Man U and Man City.

Martin Dubravka (Newcastle United) – 7.15

Since stepping into the side following Nick Pope’s injury back in December, Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka has kept five clean sheets in eight league matches, and helped the Magpies to three wins from four in January.

Daniel Munoz (Crystal Palace) – 7.36

Dean Huijsen (Bournemouth) – 7.48

Lisandro Martinez (Man U) – 7.64

Milos Kerkez (Bournemouth) – 7.35

Phil Foden (Man City) – 8.39

Justin Kluivert (Bournemouth) – 8.03

Mateo Kovacic (Man City) – 7.69

Antoine Semenyo (Bournemouth) – 7.87

Erling Haaland (Man City) – 8.07

Alexander Isak (Newcastle United) – 8.11

Haaland’s impressive haul is overshadowed only slightly by Newcastle frontman Alexander Isak, whose remarkable scoring form in December continued into January, with a goal against Tottenham and braces against both Wolves and Southampton. The Sweden international has scored 13 goals in his last 10 league outings and now sits just two goals behind Mohamed Salah in the race for the Golden Boot.
