The match officials for Leeds United’s Premier League clash with Newcastle United on Saturday evening have been announced, with Peter Bankes set to take charge at Elland Road.

The Merseyside-based official began refereeing aged just 14 and worked his way through the divisions before making a first appearance in the top-flight in a 2019 fixture between Leicester City and AFC Bournemouth.

The Whites have a mixed record in their 22 matches overseen by the 43-year-old, winning 9 times and drawing on three occasions.

Newcastle, meanwhile, have a similar record from their 16 outings to feature Bankes, winning five, drawing five and losing six.

Last time out, the Magpies were victorious as the edged past Brentford at St James’ Park thanks to a late winner from midfielder Sandro Tonali.

Keeping up with the action from Stockley Park is Video Assistant Referee Jarred Gillet and Additional VAR Tim Robinson.
