In a recent report, Calciomercato mentioned that Newcastle United have set their sights on Fiorentina forward Moise Kean. It has been stated that the Magpies are eager to get a deal done for the Italian striker this summer.

Kean’s Impressive Form In Italian Football

Kean had a fruitful campaign at the Florence club after he put in a series of impressive displays as the focal point of their attack. The Italian talent found the back of the net 25 times and secured three assists in 44 appearances for Fiorentina last season across multiple competitions.

The 25-year-old deserves a lot of credit for attempting 3.43 shots per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has also kept 47.6% of his attempts on target. However, Kean needs to improve his ball distribution in the final third, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 69.9% in league football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Italian club will expire in the summer of 2029 which could make it difficult for the Magpies to land him on the cheap this off-season.

Should Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe Go For Kean?

Kean is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can strike the ball with power from long range. He has proven himself to be a prolific goal-getter in Italian football. However, the jury is still out on whether the Italy international can maintain his good form in the Premier League if Newcastle manage to bring him on board this summer.

Kean mainly operates as a centre-forward but can also fill in as a wide player on either flank if asked to do so by his manager. He already knows English football well from his previous spell at Everton and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the Tyneside club.

Based on last season, Kean would bring more goals to Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe’s attack. He is more than capable of fighting for a regular first-team place at St. James’ Park in the coming seasons.

At 25, Kean has got his best years ahead of him which makes him a decent choice for the Magpies to pursue this off-season. All in all, Howe would be wise to go for a striker of Kean’s goal-scoring prowess in this transfer period.
