Newcastle United have revealed that Celtic have provided an additional allocation for their forthcoming pre-season friendly. The Magpies were initially granted a sizeable 7200 for the game in mid July but in a post on their website, Newcastle confirmed that they had received more tickets for the game.
In the Tuesday update, Newcastle confirmed the sale arrangements that will see the Scottish Champions face the English League Cup winners in preparation for the new season.
“Tickets for Newcastle United’s pre-season trip to Scottish Premiership champions Celtic FC are on sale after being offered an additional capacity.

“Eddie Howe’s side will travel to Scotland to face Brendan Rodgers’ Bhoys at Celtic Park on Saturday, 19th July (kick-off 3pm BST), competing for the first ever adidas Trophy, and tickets initially went on sale to season ticket holders with 35 and above away points on Tuesday, 6th May before selling out on Friday, 16th May.
“However, after being offered an additional capacity, tickets went on sale to season ticket holders with three or four away points who did not already have a ticket at 2pm (BST) on Thursday, 26th June and are now available to ALL current Season Ticket Holders.”
The friendly is being viewed by the Newcastle faithful as a good day out with a sizeable support making their way from the North East to the East End of Glasgow. Brendan and Eddie Howe will see the game as being a valuable part of their preparations for the new season, especially with Champions League qualification at stake for Celtic.
