Valencia starlet Javi Guerra caught the eye of many in Spain during the first six months of his time in La Liga, and some beyond the shores of Iberia too. While his form declined in the second half of the season, the potential he showed may well see offers come in for him this summer.
As Matteo Moretto explains, Guerra’s future might be up for discussion in the coming weeks, with no move imminent. The 21-year-old has clubs in both Spain and the Premier League paying ‘very close attention’ to his situation, after a starting three quarters of Los Che’s games this season, his first full campaign in La Liga.
Newcastle United and Manchester United were both watching him earlier in the season, and while Moretto has revealed that early this year the Magpies sounded out Guerra’s camp to see what the situation was, neither have since asked about him again. It is not ruled out that they return to the fold for him though either.
Guerra popped up with a couple of important goals for Ruben Baraja both this season and last. Technically gifted, intelligent in his movement and with a habit of wriggling away from pressure, Guerra has the talent to be a top midfielder. However he did see a dip in his performance in 2024, although that is only to be expected of a young player cutting his teeth.
