Paris Saint-Germain showed interest in Dean Huijsen last summer as part of their defensive rebuild, but the Spanish center-back ultimately joined AFC Bournemouth. If they decide to make another move for him, they won’t be alone in the race.

While PSG strengthened their backline with Willian Pacho, Milan Skriniar is expected to make his loan to Fenerbahçe permanent, potentially leaving them in the market for another center-back this summer.

Huijsen has impressed in the Premier League with consistent performances, earning praise and drawing interest from several top clubs. If PSG sees him as the right fit, they’ll have to compete for his signature—and any team looking to sign him will likely have to meet a set asking price.

TEAMtalk reported Thursday, citing sources, that Newcastle United have made Huijsen their top target for the summer transfer window, but another club is currently leading the race for the Bournemouth defender.

Moreover, the report says the Magpies have contacted the Bournemouth central defender’s agents and expressed interest in signing him.

Newcastle see Huijsen as a perfect signing because of the relatively low cost to bring him in. The 19-year-old Spain Under-21 center-back has a £50 million release clause in his contract with Bournemouth.

This release clause is available to all clubs, not just those in top European competitions. However, according to TEAMtalk, citing sources, Real Madrid are currently in the best position to sign the defender.
