Newcastle United produced one of their finest performances of the season to thrash Manchester United 4-1 in the Premier League.
Eddie Howe’s side were aggressive from the first minute and could have scored inside 60 seconds. Joelinton did put the ball in the net, but Kieran Trippier was offside in the build-up. The tone was still set.
In the 24th minute, Alexander Isak played a sublime ball into Sandro Tonali, who volleyed home to put Newcastle in front. Manchester United levelled through Alejandro Garnacho 12 minutes later, but it only delayed the inevitable.
The second half belonged to the Magpies. Harvey Barnes scored twice, with Jacob Murphy and Valentino Livramento heavily involved. Bruno Guimaraes added a fourth after another error from the United backline.
It was a dominant display and a night that St. James’ Park will remember for a long time.
