David Møller Wolfe has described his move to Wolves as “meant to be” after completing a £10 million switch from AZ Alkmaar over the weekend.

The 23-year-old becomes the third summer signing under new head coach Vítor Pereira, following the arrivals of Jhon Arias and Fer Lopez.

The Norwegian left-back is not only symbolically aligned with his new club – sharing a surname with the animal on the club crest – but also sports a tattoo of a wolf on his arm. Speaking to club media after putting pen to paper, Wolfe said the move felt right from the start.

“I felt incredibly wanted from the second I talked to Domenico [Teti] and the second I talked to the coach,” he said. “Obviously, the Premier League is a big, big league, especially also in Norway. It's the biggest league that people watch, so when a Premier League club came in, and Wolverhampton came in for me, I was extremely keen on joining.”

Reflecting on the coincidence of his name and new club, Wolfe added: “Personally, I think it's pretty cool to have that surname and then to play for Wolverhampton. Me and my brothers have actually joked a little bit about it a couple of years ago, and now it is turning into a reality. I think it was meant to be.”

Wolfe made 92 appearances for AZ Alkmaar, scoring four goals and registering 10 assists. Known for his energy and tireless work ethic, he believes his playing style will suit Wolves' system well.

"I'm an extremely hard-working player that can run up and down the left side for 90 minutes straight. I give a lot of energy to the team, and I always do my best to help the team,” he explained. “I'm very confident. I think I have the qualities to play in the Premier League and to deliver and to perform.”

With Pereira expected to deploy wing-backs in his system, Wolfe is eager to take on a more offensive role. “Also here, I will play as a wing-back, so that means I can have even more freedom to go on offensive runs, so I can't wait.”

Wolves fans will hope the Norwegian’s passion and endurance will quickly endear him to the Molineux faithful as the club continues to reshape under Pereira’s stewardship.
