Inter Milan star Davide Frattesi looks set to leapfrog Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the pecking order under Cristian Chivu.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, Inter’s new formation suits the Italian better.
Davide Frattesi seemed on the verge of leaving San Siro toward the end of last season.
Indeed, his limited playing time under Simone Inzaghi nearly convinced the midfielder to file a transfer request.
However, the 25-year-old’s career at Inter may finally take off.

Cristian Chivu will slightly alter Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 system, turning it into a 3-4-2-1.
Therefore, Frattesi could get a more prominent role in the new set-up at Mkhitaryan’s expense.
Despite being one of Inzaghi’s most trusted allies, the Armenian is in the autumn of his playing career.
Indeed, he will be 37 next January, hence Chivu’s decision to focus on young blood.
Frattesi is now the leading candidate to overtake the former Roma ace in the midfield hierarchy.
His attacking attributes make him a perfect fit for the new formation.
But for now, he only has to worry about recovery after undergoing abdominal surgery earlier this month.
