Denzel Dumfries started for Inter Milan against Feyenoord yesterday.

And it was a big night for the Dutchman on a personal level. Dumfries wore the captain’s armband for Inter for the first time in the Champions League round of sixteen second leg.

Dumfries was the longest-serving Inter player in the starting eleven, along with Hakan Calhanoglu. Therefore, he was clearly a suitable candidate to wear the armband,

And Dumfries really responded to the honour of captaining Inter.

Denzel Dumfries has been in some of the best form of his entire Inter career over the last couple months.

The Dutchman has shaken off any lack of physical condition. He has been looking consistently fresh – even though the absence of Matteo Darmian has forced him to start virtually every match.

And that was clearly evident against Feyenoord yesterday.

Dumfries was not able to score or assist a goal, as he has been doing with impressive regularity since the start of 2025.

However, the Dutchman did just about everything else.

Dumfries decisively won his battle with the likes of Hugo Bueno and debutant Aymen Sliti. He was mature defensively, never getting beat on his flank, and pushed Feyenoord back when he roamed forward.
