Stefan de Vrij and Carlos Augusto will start in defense for Inter Milan in tomorrow’s Serie A match against Monza.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that Benjamin Pavard will complete the trio at the back.

Inter return to Serie A action from the international break tomorrow.

The Nerazzurri travel to Monza for their fourth league match of the season.

It is not as though Inter will be underestimating Monza. They may have beaten the Brianzoli both home and away last season, but the previous campaign they failed to take three points from either match.

However, Inter have other massive commitments just on the horizon.

The Nerazzurri take on Manchester City in their Champions League opener in midweek. Then next week it will be the derby against city rivals AC Milan.

Therefore, there is little doubt that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will have an eye on the future rather than just tomorrow’s match in Lombardy as he makes his team selection.

According to the Gazzetta, Inzaghi is ready to rejig the back three for tomorrow’s match.

Two Italian internationals will drop to the bench, the newspaper reports.

Both of Alessandro Bastoni and Francesco Acerbi have started in each of Inter’s three matches so far in Serie A this season.

However, both will get a rest. Inzaghi will aim to keep them fresh for the matches to come.

In the centre of defense, the Gazzetta report, de Vrij will get his first start of the season.

The Dutchman will take the place of fellow ex-Lazio defender Acerbi in the centre of Inter’s back three.

And on the left of the back three, the versatile Carlos Augusto will replace Bastoni.

Meanwhile, Tomas Palacios will be part of an Inter matchday squad for the first time after completing his transfer at the end of August.
